The IICRC is managed by its Board of Directors, which is comprised of 15 industry leaders elected by the IICRC’s Shareholders. The Board of Directors’ function is to represent the various interests of the Registrants while leading the direction of the organization. The Board of Directors meets four times per year and is tasked with the responsibility of helping shape future policies of the organization and uphold the standards that help shape the industry.

Pete Duncanson

Pete first joined the board of directors in 2009. Pete is a Master Water Restorer, Master Fire and Smoke Restorer, Master Textile Cleaner, and CDS. Pete’s “day job” is as a director of training and technical support for ServiceMaster Clean. Pete has been in his current position for 10 years and a total of 15 years at ServiceMaster Clean Corporate (with 10 previous years as a franchisee). Altogether, Pete has a total of 25 years with ServiceMaster Clean. Pete is also vice president of operations for Society of Cleaning and Restoration Technicians (SCRT), corporate representative to Restoration Industry Association (RIA) and IAQA (Indoor Air Quality Association), and outreach instructor for Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA). All of these connections give Pete a broad knowledge base to gather information from and to remain informed about the industry.

Carey Vermeulen

Carey has been a volunteer with the IICRC since 1991 and has served 17 of those years as a Board member, five years as Vice President and three years as President. Carey has been involved in the development of IICRC/ANSI S500 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration, IICRC/ANSI S520 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mould Remediation, IICRC/ANSI S100 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Carpet Cleaning and was the Chair of the IICRC S300 Standard and Reference guide for Professional Upholstery Cleaning.

Today Carey is among the busiest IICRC instructors averaging over 70 classes a year primarily for the restoration and insurance industries and maintains among the highest student pass rate. Carey continues to volunteer as a public speaker at industry related events, writes technical articles and provides consulting services to the restoration, cleaning and insurance industries.


David Hodge

David Hodge

David worked in the cleaning and restoration industry for over 22 years in east Tennessee for an inde-pendent company prior to moving to Arizona in 2017 to take a position as a full time IICRC Approved Instructor. He holds the MSR, MWR, MTC, and MRS designations and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the IICRC's Education Committee and the Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician course. David resides in Phoenix, Az. where he is the Education Director at Winners' Circle Training Center.

Outside of cleaning and restoration, David spent 9 years in the emergency services field as a Firefighter Instructor I, Advanced EMT, TEMA Hazardous Materials Technician, and held numerous other certifica-tions in the emergency response field. He will receive his Bachelors of Science in Emergency Manage-ment and Public Safety from Grand Canyon University in March of 2019.

Joe Dobbins

Joe first joined the board in 2002 for a six-year tenure serving as an Executive Officer as Chairman of Certification Council. Having been an approved instructor with the IICRC in multiple courses of cleaning and restoration since 1992, he has also served as Certification Council Vice-Chair, Division Chair over different divisions of technical courses and Technical Advisory Chair over multiple different courses. Currently Joe serves as Division Chair over Restoration segment of courses within IICRC training.

Personal business included owner/operator of a cleaning, reconstruction, and remediation/restoration company for 25 years. After retirement from business, employment included time as a property claims adjuster with a major insurance company during 2007 – 2008. Currently, love of teaching brought Joe back to full-time instruction since 2009 in addition to serving as expert witness in litigation and court cases.

Scott Mitseff

Recently, Scott Mitseff was elected onto the Executive Committee as Treasurer of the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). He has served on the Board of Directors for the past three years.

For the last twenty-eight years, Scott has qualified as an IICRC certified master restorer, master smoke and fire restorer and master textile cleaner.

He has been a member of the Carpet Cleaners Institute of the Northwest (CCINW) for the past twenty + years and served as a former treasurer and currently serves as their president and shareholder representative.

In 1991, Scott became the owner of MasterSteam Cleaning & Restoration business, which specializes in cleaning carpets, area rugs, fine fabric upholstery, hardwood flooring, natural stone and tile floors, and Soft window drapery and blind cleaning.

From 1986-1991, Scott was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and led a two-man team as an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist Load team leader.

While attending Kent State University, located in Akron/Kent, Ohio, Scott received a diploma in small business management and has studied criminal justice at a local community college.

Scott has served as a reserve police officer for the City of Yakima and currently, is a team member for the Yakima County Search & Rescue sheriff’s department. He is a Yakima County Emergency Management and is a FCC Licensed Operator-Technician class with Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES).

Scott has combined his love for travel and motorcycles and is an accomplished long distance endurance motorcycle rider and averages 1,000 miles in eighteen and a half hours. He recently earned the title “Cognoscente” while riding his Yamaha Super Tenere motorcycle in a grueling 1,631 mile ride within thirty-one and a half hours. He is a premier member of the International Iron Butt Association.

 

Celebrating twenty-one years of marriage, Scott and his wife, Bobbi reside in Yakima, Washington.

 

 

 

 

Robert Pettyjohn

Robert Pettyjohn

Robert Pettyjohn was raised in Camden, S.C. and graduated from Gardner Webb College in Boiling Springs, N.C. in 1974. It was there he met his wife of 38 years, Karen Chapman. Robert and Karen live in Wake Forest, N.C., and have two daughters, Katie and Wendy, and three grandchildren. He began Pettyjohn’s Cleaning & Restoration out of their family’s minivan in 1989.

Robert has served as President of Mid-South Professional Cleaners Association where he received the prestigious Dick Bernson Award. He has earned IICRC Master Cleaner, Master Water Restorer and Master Fire and Smoke Restorer certifications. He is also RIA Certified Water Loss Specialist and is a Certified Master Rug Cleaner.

Pettyjohn considers his election to the IICRC Board as “one of the highest honors” of his 27 years in this industry.

Mark Drozdov

Mark Drozdov, BSI,CAI,CMA,SSM with an extensive experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) has effectively completed diverse range of projects for HazMat Testing, Remediation Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Risk, Hazards Assessment, Compliance/Training and Certification Audits. He's been on the industry’s leading edge of BEST-PRACTICE programs development, implementation and management for over 25 years. Mark is ISO14001 Certified Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ISO45001 Certified Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHS MS) Lead Auditor ISO 19011:18 and US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) participant. He was elected to the IICRC Board of Directors and is on the Safety & Health Field Guide for Disaster Restoration Professionals Committee. As a Professional Member of American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), he's also on the Fall Protection Standards ANSI Z359 Committee.

Mark served as Graduate Curriculum Development Director for Polytechnic University/NYU, Industrial Hygiene Safety Consultant for Long Island Occupational Environmental Health Center at Stony Brook University. Mark is Principal Instructor for The Cooper Union’s Green Buildings Guidelines/Environmental Safety Program and lecturer/adjunct professor @ Columbia University, CUNY/City & Hunter Colleges and Stevens Institute of Technology (SIT). Mark served as NY President of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and is a current AIHA.org ACTIONS Committee Officer. He heads the OSHA+AIHA NY Alliance for P.A.L.M.S.- PCB, Asbestos, Lead/Legionella, Mold/Metals, Silica/Safety & Health. He’s been published in many industry publications, including on Risk Management in The Construction Executive and Crain's NY Business, and conducted numerous Presentations and Conferences and a recognized litigation expert.

 

Craig Kersemeier

Craig Kersemeier

Craig has been involved in the cleaning and restoration industry his whole career. He is a second generation leader of K-tech Kleening Systems that began as a one-truck, one-man unit and became a leader in the industry with 30+ service vehicles and over 100 employees. K-tech has three office locations and services half of Wisconsin. His company also travels across the U. S. for complete emergency services.

Craig has held many leadership positions in the industry from IICRC, ICRA, MCRA and Connection Events - North America's largest carpet cleaning and restoration convention and trade show. Craig has assisted ISSA in the development of their Certified Training Program, CITS and has worked with manufacturers to help develop and test various restoration equipment. He's even been relied on for expert witness services with insurance companies.

Craig has served on the IICRC Board of Directors Executive Committee and is the current president of SCRT. He's also the current IICRC Marketing Chair.

 

 

Tony Macaluso

Tony Macaluso

Tony Macaluso is a 40+ year cleaning and restoration veteran. His cleaning and restoration company in Austin, Texas has been in operation since 1973. As administrator for TM Restoration Schools, Inc. Tony has taught numerous classes regarding Fire and Water Damage Restoration, Odor Control and Carpet Cleaning throughout the United States, Europe and Australia. He has provided consulting and teaching services for organizations including: Fibreclean of Canada; National Flood School of England; Polygon of Norway; Munters Europe; Australian Carpet Cleaning Institute; as well as several United States franchise operations.

Tony is currently approved by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning & Restoration Certification (IICRC) global body to instruct Odor Control, Fire Damage and Water Damage Restoration certification courses.

In addition to his consulting and teaching duties, he serves as chairman of the Odor Control Committee of the IICRC and is a member of the IICRC Board of Directors.

Tony is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound; a Master Textile, Master Fire, and Master Water Damage Restoration Technician, as well as Senior Carpet Inspector with the IICRC; Master Deflooding and Restoration Specialist with C.D.R.N.; and is a Certified Restorer with the R.I.A.

Dan Mesenburg

Dan Mesenburg is an IICRC-approved WRT, ASD, FSRT and OCT Instructor as well as Chair of the WRT Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). He has previously volunteered on TACS for the ASD and FSRT. Dan owns his own Certified Firm in Minnesota and works as a Training Manager for ServiceMaster Clean/Restore throughout the Midwest.

Steve Moran

Steve is the owner/founder of A Cleaner Carpet LLC, Flood Masters of Colorado and the Denver Rug Cleaning & Repair Company. He is the current President of The Professional Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Association PCUCA (PACR), and the secretary for ICRA-International Cleaning & Restoration Association.

Steve also teaches continuing education classes to insurance agents/adjusters and realtors on water damage and mold mitigation. His connections within the trade associations and the community he works in offer a broad view of perspectives from owners, technicians and potential clients from for the cleaning and restoration industry.

 

Leslie Morrow

Leslie Morrow

Leslie Morrow is a Human Resources Consultant and Trainer with Goldmarc Consulting LLC in Scottsdale, Arizona. Goldmarc Consulting LLC provides Human Resources consulting and outsourcing services to businesses of every size.

Leslie is primarily responsible for advising companies in the areas of employment laws, recruitment, HR policy and procedures, EEOC complaints, sexual harassment, performance improvement, discipline/termination, and employee relations investigations.

She also facilitates a variety human resources training including Regulatory Compliance and Leadership Development.

Leslie began her HR Career at Groen Division, Dover Corporation over 30 years ago and is a graduate of the Human Resources Leadership Program at General Electric. She has earned her Six Sigma Quality Green Belt and has consulted executives and mid managers with GE Medical Systems, GE Aircraft Engines, GE Capital and Microsoft Corporation. She is certified by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Leslie is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management.

Leslie is a resident of Scottsdale, Arizona, and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Psychology. As a Distinguished Toastmaster, she is a lecturer and motivational public speaker. She previously served as Chairman of the Examinations Committee for the IICRC and is currently Executive Director of Royal H.U.E., a nonprofit charitable organization.

Leslie has earned her BA in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University; she carries a Six Sigma Quality Green Belt; is a Distinguished Toastmaster and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Leslie is an IICRC Master Textile Cleaner; Approved IICRC Instructor (CCT), (UFT) and (CRT); IICRC Certified Firm owner and an IICRC Approved School. She’s also a Consultant and Life Coach Trainer.

He operated a 2-truck cleaning business and added restoration before becoming a flooring inspector in 1995. Currently Paul is a full-time inspector and IICRC Approved Instructor for ISSI, WLFI, RFI, SCI and runs the IICRC Approved School National Academy of Floor Covering Training.

He has previously worked as a chief engineer at a special needs school district cooperative as well as leading contracted cleaning services for a social service agency that served adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Ryan now works for a distributor in Illinois overseeing all aspects of janitorial equipment servicing and sales. Ryan is an active participant in the S400 and is also the Vice Chair of the Field Guide for the Health and Safety of Professional Cleaners.

James Tole

James has been in the cleaning and restoration Industry for 30 years and has trained hundreds of companies in the USA and Canada. He has extensive field and management experience in the handling of contents after insured losses and specializes in packout procedures, individual job management, contents estimating and inventory software. James is also a chemical engineering graduate with a great understanding of the chemistries and processes for use in hands-on cleaning. James is an IICRC Instructor as well as an affiliated instructor with Hydramaster Corporation, Clean Aid and Fireline training centers. James brings to his courses a unique compilation of practical exposure and practices based on ‘the science of cleaning’ targeted towards increasing technician, manager and supervisory skills and efficiency.
