The IICRC is managed by its Board of Directors, which is comprised of 15 industry leaders elected by the IICRC’s Shareholders. The Board of Directors’ function is to represent the various interests of the Registrants while leading the direction of the organization. The Board of Directors meets four times per year and is tasked with the responsibility of helping shape future policies of the organization and uphold the standards that help shape the industry.

Kevin Pearson

Kevin is on the board of directors and serves as the chair of the certified firm committee, and a member of the registrant standards committee. Kevin is president of Pearson Carpet Care in Humble, Texas. He is also a Professional Cleaning & Restoration Alliance board member, and served on the S100 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Carpet Cleaning and S800 Carpet Inspector Standard and Reference Guide revision committees.

Steve Moran

Steve is the owner/founder of A Cleaner Carpet LLC, Flood Masters of Colorado and the Denver Rug Cleaning & Repair Company. He is the current President of The Professional Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Association PCUCA (PACR), and the secretary for ICRA-International Cleaning & Restoration Association. Steve also teaches continuing education classes to insurance agents/adjusters and realtors on water damage and mold mitigation. His connections within the trade associations and the community he works in offer a broad view of perspectives from owners, technicians and potential clients from for the cleaning and restoration industry.

Carey Vermeulen

Carey has been a volunteer with the IICRC since 1991 and has served 17 of those years as a Board member, five years as Vice President and three years as President. Carey has been involved in the development of IICRC/ANSI S500 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration, IICRC/ANSI S520 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mould Remediation, IICRC/ANSI S100 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Carpet Cleaning and was the Chair of the IICRC S300 Standard and Reference guide for Professional Upholstery Cleaning. Today Carey is among the busiest IICRC instructors averaging over 70 classes a year primarily for the restoration and insurance industries and maintains among the highest student pass rate. Carey continues to volunteer as a public speaker at industry related events, writes technical articles and provides consulting services to the restoration, cleaning and insurance industries.

Dan Mesenburg

Dan Mesenburg is an IICRC-approved WRT, ASD, FSRT and OCT Instructor as well as Chair of the WRT Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). He has previously volunteered on TACS for the ASD and FSRT. Dan owns his own Certified Firm in Minnesota and works as a Training Manager for ServiceMaster Clean/Restore throughout the Midwest.

Robert Pettyjohn

Robert Pettyjohn was raised in Camden, S.C. and graduated from Gardner Webb College in Boiling Springs, N.C. in 1974. It was there he met his wife of 38 years, Karen Chapman. Robert and Karen live in Wake Forest, N.C., and have two daughters, Katie and Wendy, and three grandchildren. He began Pettyjohn’s Cleaning & Restoration out of their family’s minivan in 1989. Robert has served as President of Mid-South Professional Cleaners Association where he received the prestigious Dick Bernson Award. He has earned IICRC Master Cleaner, Master Water Restorer and Master Fire and Smoke Restorer certifications. He is also RIA Certified Water Loss Specialist and is a Certified Master Rug Cleaner. Pettyjohn considers his election to the IICRC Board as “one of the highest honors” of his 27 years in this industry.

 

 

 

Joe Dobbins

Joe Dobbins

Joe first joined the board in 2002 for a six-year tenure serving as an Executive Officer as Chairman of Certification Council. Having been an approved instructor with the IICRC in multiple courses of cleaning and restoration since 1992, he has also served as Certification Council Vice-Chair, Division Chair over different divisions of technical courses and Technical Advisory Chair over multiple different courses. Currently Joe serves as Division Chair over Restoration segment of courses within IICRC training. Personal business included owner/operator of a cleaning, reconstruction, and remediation/restoration company for 25 years. After retirement from business, employment included time as a property claims adjuster with a major insurance company during 2007 – 2008. Currently, love of teaching brought Joe back to full-time instruction since 2009 in addition to serving as expert witness in litigation and court cases.

 

Mark Drozdov

Mark Drozdov

Mark Drozdov, BSI,CAI,CMA,SSM with an extensive experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) has effectively completed diverse range of projects for HazMat Testing, Remediation Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Risk, Hazards Assessment, Compliance/Training and Certification Audits. He's been on the industry’s leading edge of BEST-PRACTICE programs development, implementation and management for over 25 years. Mark is ISO14001 Certified Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ISO45001 Certified Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHS MS) Lead Auditor ISO 19011:18 and US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) participant. He was elected to the IICRC Board of Directors and is on the Safety & Health Field Guide for Disaster Restoration Professionals Committee. As a Professional Member of American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), he's also on the Fall Protection Standards ANSI Z359 Committee. Mark served as Graduate Curriculum Development Director for Polytechnic University/NYU, Industrial Hygiene Safety Consultant for Long Island Occupational Environmental Health Center at Stony Brook University. Mark is Principal Instructor for The Cooper Union’s Green Buildings Guidelines/Environmental Safety Program and lecturer/adjunct professor @ Columbia University, CUNY/City & Hunter Colleges and Stevens Institute of Technology (SIT). Mark served as NY President of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and is a current AIHA.org ACTIONS Committee Officer. He heads the OSHA+AIHA NY Alliance for P.A.L.M.S.- PCB, Asbestos, Lead/Legionella, Mold/Metals, Silica/Safety & Health. He’s been published in many industry publications, including on Risk Management in The Construction Executive and Crain's NY Business, and conducted numerous Presentations and Conferences and a recognized litigation expert.

Jessika James

Jessika James

Jessika James has been in the cleaning and restoration industry for over 32 years, opening her first carpet and upholstery cleaning company along with her brother in 1984. She has owned and operated several disaster restoration and bio-remediation businesses in the northern California bay area. Among her many accomplishments in the industry, Jessika has earned the status of IICRC Approved Instructor and teaches CCT, CCMT, UFT, OCT, FSRT, and WRT. She is an IICRC Master Textile Cleaner, Master Water Restorer and Master Fire & Smoke Restorer, Council Certified Indoor Environmentalist, Mold Remediator and Certified Mold Professional. Jessika has managed the education programs for industry leaders such as Prochem, and was the past Senior Training Specialist for Kärcher, North America. Presently, she is working as an industry inspector and consultant.

Scott Mitseff

Scott Mitseff has been in the inspection, cleaning and restoration industry for 25 years and is an (IICRC) Master Water Restorer, Master Smoke & Fire Restorer, Master Textile Cleaner and a Certified Textile Pro Technician. Scott has been involved in the Carpet Cleaners Institute of the Northwest (CCINW) for the past 20 years and currently serves as their President as well as a shareholder representative. Scott has also been the owner of a carpet and fine fabric/upholstery, hardwood floor cleaning, and stone/tile cleaning and polishing business since 1991, as well as owner of a rug cleaning business for the past 10 years. In his spare time, Scott is an accomplished long distance endurance motorcycle rider (with trips averaging over 1,000 miles in 24-hours) and a premier member of the International Iron Butt Association (IBA).

James Tole

James has been in the cleaning and restoration Industry for 30 years and has trained hundreds of companies in the USA and Canada. He has extensive field and management experience in the handling of contents after insured losses and specializes in packout procedures, individual job management, contents estimating and inventory software. James is also a chemical engineering graduate with a great understanding of the chemistries and processes for use in hands-on cleaning. James is an IICRC Instructor as well as an affiliated instructor with Hydramaster Corporation, Clean Aid and Fireline training centers. James brings to his courses a unique compilation of practical exposure and practices based on ‘the science of cleaning’ targeted towards increasing technician, manager and supervisory skills and efficiency.

 

    WHAT ARE CERTIFICATION CLASSES?

    Certification classes are classes taught by an approved Instructor or School. Each class taught varies from one day to five days, depending on course content and requirements. Online learning is also available in select categories for those who cannot attend a class.

    WHAT IS AN APPROVED SCHOOL?

    As a certifying and standards-setting body, the IICRC owns no schools and has no instructors on staff. Rather, to fulfill its education commitment, the IICRC approves schools and instructors that apply to and meet the criteria set forth by the board of directors.

    The IICRC does not provide recommendations for any approved instructor, rather, any individual seeking to attend a class is required to contact an approved instructor from the directory provided for any inquires related to their services.
