IICRC Standards Update – October 2016

S540 New Draft Standard Available for Public Review
The IICRC has opened a public review for the new draft BSR-IICRC S540 Standard for Trauma and Crime Scene Remediation. The draft S540 Standard is available for public review and comment through Nov. 21.

The IICRC S540 Standard describes the procedures to be followed and the precautions to be taken when performing trauma and crime scene remediation regardless of surface, item, or location. It defines criteria and methodology used by the technician for inspecting and investigating blood and other potentially infectious material (OPIM) contamination, and for establishing work plans and procedures.

The IICRC S540 draft Standard is available for review and comment as part of the ANSI 45-day public review period. ICRC Calls for Consensus Body Volunteers

The IICRC is seeking volunteers to serve on consensus bodies for the revisions and/or development of five Standards and Reference Guides:

  • ANSI/IICRC S100: Standard and IICRC R100 Reference Guide for Professional Cleaning of Textile Floor Coverings.
  • BSR-IICRC S300: Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Upholstery Cleaning.
  • *New* BSR-IICRC S400: Standard for Professional Cleaning, Maintenance and Restoration of the Commercial Built Environment.
  • *New* BSR-IICRC S550: Standard for Professional Water Damage Restoration of Commercial Structures.
  • ANSI/IICRC S800: Standard and R800 Reference Guide for Professional Inspection of Textile Floor Coverings.

New S500 Videos Available
Have you heard the news? We’ve added new videos to the IICRC subscription website.

Twelve videos are now available featuring presentations from a special two-day, invite-only S500 seminar. Hosted at the GRC in Las Vegas in March, the video presentations feature tutorials from S500 consensus body members on the newly-revised fourth edition, including explanations of the entire document as well as its major changes and applications.

S500 Available in French

The IICRC has released a French translation of the ANSI/IICRC S500 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration (4th edition, 2015).  This is the first time the IICRC has translated a complete standard.
