Deadline for Master Status Drawing Near
IICRC Registrants with advanced designations
have until 2005 to meet new requirements

May 12, 2004 -- Vancouver, WA

In early 2003, the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (www.iicrc.org) announced that technicians have until 2005 to meet the new Master status requirements. The designations of Master Cleaning and Master Restoration Technician will be retired in 2005 and new designations assigned to existing technicians that meet the updated qualifications.

“To clarify ongoing concerns, no one is losing their status at this time,” said IICRC President, Carey Vermuelen. “Those holding a Master designation have until their certification renewal date in 2005 to update courses before any changes are made to their Master status. We feel these changes are important due to increased industry demands for more advanced technical skills. When someone says that they are an IICRC Master, there will be no doubt about the level of the individual’s commitment to education and training.”

At the Fall 2002 Board of Directors meeting, the IICRC Board voted to make several crucial adjustments to its Advanced Designation Program in order to strengthen the value of advanced designation recognition. In addition, the IICRC Registrant Standards Committee recommended to increase the Continuing Education Credit (CEC) requirements from two credits every four years, to two credits every two years to maintain a Master designation. Name changes to advanced designations were also made. Notifications were sent to all technicians in 2003 regarding the changes and reminder notices added to annual renewal statements.
