The Results are in: Certified Firm Status is Paying Off May 5, 2003 -- Vancouver, WA
The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (www.iicrc.org) has tallied up last year’s results for its Certified Firm referral system. The referral system allows consumers to easily locate IICRC-Certified Firms in their vicinity via a toll-free number or on-line search. The total number of phone referrals for 2003 was 17,061. With the addition in late 2003 of the ability to track on-line referrals, and based on the months of November thru December, the organization’s annualized number of on-line referrals for 2003 was 124,248. That number represents millions of dollars of revenue for Certified Firms.
Certification has also shown significant growth. The IICRC is currently processing about 3,000 certification exams per month; some are new registrants while others are getting their second, third and even fourth certification. The average IICRC class is now comprised of about 20 students. With this surge of certification, there are presently 3,446 Certified Firms (up from 3,328 six months ago) and 28,363 Certified Technicians (up from 27,593 six months ago and 24,356 one year ago).
“The referral system is only one of many benefits to being an IICRC-Certified Firm,” said IICRC administrator, Tom Hill. “Many government agencies, insurance companies, franchise chains, carpet mills and the like recommend or even require IICRC-Certified Firm status when making recommendations to clients or putting bids out for cleaning and restoration.”
