Q. When were you first elected to the Board of Directors?
    A. I was first elected to the Board in April, 2005.
Q. What position(s) do you hold on the Board?
    A. I am the Certification Council Chairman and serve on the Executive Committee.
Q. What is your shareholder affiliation?
    A. Director At Large.
Q. What committees with IICRC do you chair or participate?
    A. I am the Certification Council Chairman as well as Co-Chairman of the S600 Carpet Installation Standard Development Committee. Also, I actively participate on various TACs (Technical Advisory Committees) and the Standards Committee.
Q. What are your IICRC Certifications?
    A. The IICRC certifications I hold are: Master Textile Cleaner, Master Water Restorer and Master Fire & Smoke Restorer. I am also a Credentialed Carpet Inspector.
Q. What is your "day job" and how long have you been doing it?
    A. For my day job I am a partner in the Aspire Educational Institute & Conference Centre based in Kingman, Arizona. I’m also an IICRC approved instructor in WRT (Water Damage Restoration Technician) and RRT (Carpet Repair & Reinstallation Technician). On top of all that, I’m also a teacher and consultant.
Q. What other industry organizations are you active, what do you do for them and how could this benefit the IICRC?
    A. I’m a member of various trade associations within our industry. I often speak during “after hours" or "dinner meetings.” Also, I’m a member of our local Kawanis Club.
Q. What are your hobbies/interests outside the industry that you would like to share?
    A. Every year I run a marathon with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program in memory of my daughter, Kimberly Joy Costa, who passed away July 2000 of Hodgkin’s Disease. To date, with the help of hundreds of friends, Team Costa has raised over $141,000.00 to help find a cure for blood-related cancers.
Q. What do you personally wish to contribute to the IICRC during your term?
    A. There are several things I’d like to accomplish. For Governance I’d like to see the creation of an ANSI/IICRC S600 Carpet Installation Standard. I want to move the organization to a third tier of educational possibilities (computer-based examinations, scoring and feedback). Also, I’d like to see a third-party accreditation of our certification program and the expansion and restructure of our educational/certification/degree program offerings.
Q. What areas of expertise do you have that would be beneficial to the IlCRC?
    A. I have a degree in education from Springfield College and was a public school teacher for ten years.
Q. Do you have any government, civic, regulatory contacts that would assist the IICRC in meeting its mission, goals and objectives?
    A. The Aspire Educational Institute & Conference Centre is making many local contacts with governmental agencies in Arizona concerning programs that are important locally, as well as generally relevant programs within our industry.
