IICRCA Announces New President

The International Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Council of Associations (IICRCA) recently announced the hiring of long-time association executive Maury Astley, CAE, as its new president. In his new role, Astley will be responsible for leading the organization forward as it expands.

Created by the IICRC in 2012, the IICRCA was envisioned as a global, cross-industry council of associations that would allow diverse interests in cleaning, restoration, inspection and related fields to exchange information, speak in a unified voice regarding major issues and deliver value both to the member organizations and, in turn, to their membership bases.

Astley, who will work out of the IICRCA’s headquarters at the IICRC Global Resource Center in Las Vegas, recently sat down with us to discuss his vision for the future of the Association.

Why did you choose to work for the IICRCA?
I chose to work for the IICRCA because it is a great organization! I enjoy the challenge of helping an organization develop from the ground up, and with the Association’s international scope, it was the perfect fit.

What are a few of the things you will be working on in the next year?
In the next year, we will be working to bring more benefits to our members and to Certified Firms. We have a good start with BizUnite for the Certified Firms and now need to look for products and services that our association and franchise members can use and pass on to their members.

We are also working on developing some educational programs to present important and timely information during future trade shows. Within the next year, we will be partnering with two associations.

Where do you see the Association headed in the next five years?
In the next five years, I see the Association recognized as the voice of the whole industry connected with inspection, cleaning and restoration. We are a connecting point for any organization that represents the fields of inspection, cleaning, remediation restoration and rebuilding the built environment. We can see a point where those that manufacture the products we use and the products we clean will join, as they want to have a better connection with those providing the cleaning services. We’ve already attracted interest from a larger scope of organizations than was originally planned and are making a point of working with many industry groups to solidify our goal of being a partner they can trust. We are also looking at ways we can provide products and services to our members and to the members they serve.
