IICRC Now Offering Exclusive Discussion Board for Certified Firms

The IICRC has established an online discussion forum for Certified Firms and instructors. This is an ideal venue to talk shop with your peers, exchange techniques and ideas and learn from the best in the business – IICRC Certified Firms like yours.

The IICRC Certified Firm discussion board provides a wealth of insight into the cleaning, restoration and inspection communities -- the only spot of its kind on the web where you can interact with other professionals who have invested time, training and certification in their businesses.

The discussion board is temporarily allowing guests to browse the forum; however, only Certified Firms may post or reply to content on the discussion boards.

We recently sat down with IICRC board secretary and Certified Committee chair Kevin Pearson to discuss the new forum and what it means for IICRC Certified Firms:

What is the purpose of the Certified Firm Discussion Board?
The purpose of the discussion board is to bring cleaners, restorers, inspectors and IICRC-approved instructors together on a professional board where they can ask technical questions and get answers from other professionals.

What do you hope to accomplish with it?
We hope to bring more value to the Certified Firm program by providing a place where Certified Firms can go to get knowledgeable advice from other Certified Firms and IICRC-approved instructors. It’s helpful to be able to discuss certain topics with like-minded individuals who you know are on par with your own level of training.

What kinds of topics can members discuss?
We currently have open discussion areas in the following: carpet cleaning, rug cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, water restoration, fire restoration, mold remediation, inspection, marketing, IICRC news, upholstery cleaning, deodorization, carpet repair, management and color repair. You can also open up a new discussion area if none of these suit your needs.

Is it monitored by anyone?
The discussion board is currently monitored by IICRC volunteer Greg Brooks and myself, but we are looking for more volunteers. If you are good at working with WordPress and would like to monitor and change the board as it grows, feel free to contact us.

Are there any rules?
As with all discussion boards, we do have rule policy in place to limit misuse such as phony profiles, unprofessional behavior, etc. An explanation of the IICRC’s discussion board rules can be found here: http://www.iicrc.org/forums/the-rules/.

How do I register?
To register, visit http://www.iicrc.org/forums/ and click on the “Login or Join” link on the upper right-hand corner of the page. A pop-up will appear that will allow you to either log in (as a returning member) or sign up (on the right-hand side). The site is responsive to different screen sizes and you should be able to navigate it on a traditional personal computer, a tablet or a smartphone.

What if I have a question?
All questions, comments or complaints can be sent to a very nice gentleman named Greg Brooks at gregb@west-third.com. If you are having any functionality issues or have questions on policy related matters, you can contact me at prodrying@yahoo.com.
