Find Mold Remediation Courses In California

Technicians who wish to set themselves apart from the competition by specializing in the removal of microbial organisms can take advantage of several Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) approved mold remediation courses and exams in California. Regardless of an individual’s level of expertise, the IICRC connects students with a program just right for them.

IICRC Certification Classes

The Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) class instructs students in the basic methodology of addressing microbial contamination, as well as water damage assessment and structural drying techniques.

Several sessions of this 3-day class are in locations like Ventura, Sacramento, San Diego, San Carlos, Anaheim and other cities. Students interested in these introductory mold remediation courses in California can browse class schedules on their website.

The Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT) class teaches higher-level material with a marked emphasis on techniques related to the removal of microbial organisms associated with mold and sewage. WRT certification is a prerequisite.

For enrollment and contact information regarding one of the AMRT mold remediation courses in California, applicants are encouraged to visit the IICRC website.

Continuing Education

Technicians who have already achieved initial WRT or AMRT certification may be eligible to obtain continuing education credits through IICRC-approved workshops and classes. A variety of mold remediation courses in California and throughout the United States are available to ensure certified technicians are knowledgeable of the latest industry developments and advances.

A lineup of workshop and long distance classes is available on the IICRC website.

Mold Removal Specialists (MRS) Exams

Individuals with at least one year experience in the elimination of microbial contamination may qualify to take the IICRC’s MRS exam. Professionals who, through prior experience or educational training, are already familiar with methodology and techniques in this area of expertise can take the exam at their convenience at one of the 29 Kryterion testing centers throughout the state. Although no formal prior education or training is required to sit for the test, it is strongly recommended.

MRS certification is a different level of certification than AMRT certification. Unlike AMRT, MRS sets forth no prerequisites or continuing education requirements to retain certification status.  Also, the MRS program is not designed to teach, but rather to acknowledge a professional’s knowledge and proficiency.

An annual renewal fee and recertification is required every five years to keep the certification active.
