Feb 2016 MoU Spotlight

IICRC MoU Spotlight

What is an MoU? An MoU is a Memorandum of Understanding. The IICRC forms strategic partnerships through the use of MoUs with organizations that lead to the Institute’s standards and certifications use in other industries. MoUs also expand the global reach and value of the Institute by fostering long-term relationships in other countries with organizations that share our mission and values.

As part of an ongoing series, the Institute will highlight a new MoU in each issue of the IICRCToday. Who’s up this month? The American Industrial Hygiene Association.

American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA)
Daniel Anna, President of the AIHA Board of Directors

What is AIHA / what is your mission?
Founded in 1939, AIHA is a nonprofit organization devoted to achieving and maintaining the highest professional standards for our members. More than half of our nearly 10,000 members are certified industrial hygienists (CIHs), and many hold other professional designations. We administer comprehensive education programs that keep occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals current in the field of industrial hygiene.

AIHA is one of the largest international associations serving OEHS professionals practicing industrial hygiene and is a resource for those in large corporations, small businesses and who work independently as consultants. Our mission is to create knowledge to protect worker health.

Who is AIHA’s audience?

AIHA’s audience includes occupational and environmental health and safety professionals at every stage of their career (students, early, mid- and senior professionals, across various sectors including government, industry, academia, consulting, etc.)

What are three things AIHA is working on in the upcoming year?
1. The 2016 American Industrial Hygiene Conference & Exposition (AIHce 2016) co-located with Stewardship 2016, taking place May 21-26 in Baltimore.

2. The AIHA Fall Conference 2016, taking place Oct. 24-25 in San Antonio

3. We will also be refreshing our website to make it more intuitive and user-friendly.
