Carpet Cleaning Certifications Can Help Companies Reputation

Professionals in the textile maintenance industry who attain carpet cleaning certifications are equipped to serve their customers, and the industry, better. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge in the field requires continuing education, and this is typically done through the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC). The IICRC (also known as the Institute) is a nonprofit organization that serves the industry and promotes best practices for businesses and technicians working in this capacity. IICRC-approved schools offer scores of courses taught by instructors around the nation, including carpet cleaning certifications.

Becoming a registrant of the IICRC requires achieving one or more cleaning, restoration or inspection certifications. These range from upholstery maintenance to restoring water and fire damage. These courses teach the most current techniques and introduce the student to the newest technologies available. Classes are typically one to five days in length and are taught in locations around the country. This makes it convenient for professionals to further their education, no matter where they live.

Carpet cleaning certifications are important for achieving full registrant status in the IICRC. Before a technician can become a registrant, they must attend at least one class sponsored by the IICRC and pass the exam. Once this is done, the company can apply to become a certified firm. Once this is complete, the professional will be listed in the Institute’s database and earn the Cleantrust symbol. It’s not enough to just pass a single class, though, as registrants must earn continuing education credits to maintain status in the organization. Inspectors must earn two credits every two years, while restoration and cleaning technicians must earn two credits every four years.

Many professionals opt for more than just the basic carpet cleaning certifications, and enter one of three learning tracks to improve their standing and further their education within the industry. Each learning track has two advanced levels of expertise – journeyman and master. All three journeyman tracks require three passed courses and one year of active service in the field. To attain master status, a technician needs to pass five or six classes and gather three years of experience in the industry. These advanced designations help the most knowledgeable registrants of the IICRC earn additional recognition for their commitment to education and knowledge.

It is extremely important for industry technicians to earn carpet cleaning certifications, for a few reasons. For one, the best way to stay on top of trends in textile manufacturing and maintenance is through these courses. The IICRC is the gold standard when it comes to this type of education, and technicians that are taught by the Institute will be prepared for any work situation. Earning registrant status in the IICRC is a prerequisite to becoming a Certified Firm, which grants usage of the Cleantrust mark and inclusion in the organization’s database. Consumers looking for a business in their area will be able to check this database to locate Certified Firms, potentially increasing the amount of business the professional gets. The customer will also be more open to hiring a firm that has the Cleantrust backing next to their name.

The most important reason for getting education through the IICRC, though, is safety. Professionals in this industry must combat health hazards every day and are hired to safeguard the health of families around the country. Without a thorough knowledge of the field, workers and customers alike may be put at risk.
